How to export and import Jitsi Desktop contacts in Windows 10?

Jitsi Desktop is an application that supports the most common instant messaging and telephony protocols. It includes an audio and video internet phone and messenger.

In this post I will share a simple manual way of backing up or sharing the locally stored contact list in a Windows 10 computer.

The contacts are stored in a XML file called contactlist.xml, which is stored in the Roaming folder under the user’s AppData folder. The file can be backed up by copying it to a backup location.

To restore the file in a fresh Jitsi Desktop installation, run the application once, then close it completely (double check in the Task Manager), replace the newly generated contactlist.xml with the one you backed up. Next time the application is open it will load the contactlist.xml you added.
